Columbus & Franklin County Metro Parks is excited to announce the opening of the Canopy Walk at Blacklick Woods Metro Park in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on May 17 at 10am. Members of the public are encouraged to join us to climb 55 feet into the treetops on the Canopy Walk to view the surrounding parklands as well as enjoy refreshments and hear remarks from Metro Parks’ Executive Director, Tim Moloney.

The Canopy Walk is sure to be a destination for all of central Ohio to see the park and wildlife like never before. The one-eighth of a mile trail gives visitors a bird’s-eye view to the forest floor and swamp below. An elevator provides access to the 35-foot-high boardwalk, while stairs take you to the observation platform at the top. Young and old can play in the treehouse, walk the rope bridges or relax in the giant cargo net. The Canopy Walk will be a great location for bird watching and viewing the park throughout the seasons. Visitors can enjoy the Canopy Walk after May 17 from 9am-7pm (April-August) and 9am-5pm (September-March).

Blacklick Woods Metro Park features 652 acres of woods, fields, seasonal swamp ponds, a small prairie and a golf course. It has one of the best remaining beech-maple forests in central Ohio along with a buttonbush swamp. The forest areas are laced with trails that wind through a swamp forest with oak and white ash, along with red maple, elm, shagbark, bitternut hickory and dogwood.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will occur in the nature center parking lot at Blacklick Woods Metro Park (6975 East Livingston Avenue, Reynoldsburg).

Staff enjoys the accessible 35-foot high walkway.
