From the Ohio Department of Development
The Ohio Department of Development today announced more than $3 million in funding to support seven production projects taking place across the state.
The awards will be issued through the Motion Picture Tax Credit Program, with four feature films, two miniseries, and one documentary receiving funding.
The projects are expected to create more than 30 new jobs and more than $3 million in new payroll, contribute more than $10 million in eligible production spending, and have an estimated economic impact of more than $14.6 million.
The Motion Picture Tax Credit program provides a refundable tax credit of 30 percent on production cast and crew wages and other eligible in-state spending for qualifying productions—including feature-length films, documentaries, and miniseries, among others.
Projects being awarded are:

Feature Films:
- A Wicked Breed, Gahanna, $109,907.10
- A Violent World, Etna, $279,517.50
- Exodus, Cincinnati, $1,991,730.90
- Outside of Cleveland, Columbus, $286,776.30
Miniseries:
- Contract Marriage for a Princess/Don’t Play the Player, Tallmadge, $125,100
- Romance Series, Cleveland, $231,750
Documentary:
- Lines of Hope Documentary, Bexley, $104,850
Applications are reviewed and awarded on a rolling basis year round. Each fiscal year will have a $50 million allocation plus any rollover amounts from preceding periods, with $5 million each year being designated specifically for Broadway/theatrical productions.
The Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit was created in 2009 to encourage and develop a strong film industry in Ohio. The application and additional program information can be found at development.ohio.gov/film.
