2:19 a.m. A broken firearm was found in a dumpster at Clean Cat’s Car Wash.
4:59 p.m. Ulta Beauty reported that a patron left the store without paying for a flat iron valued at $179.99. Police located the suspect, a 43-year-old Columbus woman, in the parking lot. She told officers she had only stolen one item and wanted to return it.
9:02 p.m. Surveillance footage at Petland allegedly showed a 24-year-old Columbus man holding open the viewing room door for a 23-year-old Columbus woman who had just placed a puppy into her purse. The couple left the store without paying for the spaniel, which was valued at $4,799. Prior to the alleged theft, both suspects had completed loan applications but had been denied financing. Using information from the applications, officers contacted the couple and instructed them to return the dog. The puppy was unharmed.
Aug. 18
6:27 a.m. An unknown silver or white vehicle struck a Jeep Wrangler on southbound Hill Road near Interstate 70 and fled the scene.
9:52 p.m. A Columbus woman reported that while she was undergoing a procedure at OhioHealth Pickerington Methodist Hospital, her 14-year-old daughter stole her car. The girl had taken her 5-year-old brother with her.
Aug. 19
4:03 p.m. Two men and a woman ran out of Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW) with seven pairs of Nike shoes valued at a total of $649.72.
5:20 p.m. An 8-year-old boy riding an electric scooter failed to stop for oncoming traffic and was struck by a van at the intersection of Daventry and Comstock Terrace. He was treated at OhioHealth Pickerington Methodist Hospital.
6:13 p.m. A resident reported an $800 fraudulent charge on her Afterpay account.
6:26 p.m. A black Audi struck a car parked along the street in the Reserve at Pickerington Ponds and fled the scene. The investigation is pending.
Aug. 20
12:12 a.m. A 20-year-old Columbus woman was cited for driving without a license.
10:54 a.m. A 72-year-old Pickerington woman called a number she believed belonged to a McAfee representative after receiving a notice that her antivirus protection had expired. The man who answered identified himself as “Andy Miller.” She provided him with remote access to her computer and her identification information. He then instructed her to transfer $14,000 from her bank account to a cryptocurrency account. U.S. Bank, suspecting the woman had been scammed, denied the transfer and notified Fairfield County Protective Services.
1:55 p.m. At the Meadows Apartments, a suspect violated a protection order by flipping a man the middle finger.
9:03 p.m. A purse was taken from an unlocked vehicle parked in a lot near Stonecreek Drive.
Aug. 21
9:53 a.m. A 38-year-old Pickerington man was arrested on an outstanding warrant from the Lancaster Police Department. He was released to LPD.
10:59 a.m. Following a traffic stop on Long Road near Colony Park, a 19-year-old Canal Winchester woman was cited for driving without a license.
3:53 p.m. Frustrated motorists reported that a man in a Honda Odyssey slept through multiple green lights at the intersection of Columbus and Center streets. Police made contact with the 45-year-old Columbus man, who denied sleeping and said he had been adding oil to his car. Officers detected no evidence of impairment.
6:27 p.m. While staff helped other customers, a man reached behind the counter at Smoke Lot and grabbed an unknown number of Raspberry Stax packages, each valued at $11.
Aug. 22
8:02 a.m. Someone shattered the window of a vehicle parked in the Wellington Park neighborhood. Nothing was taken from the vehicle.
10:18 a.m. After a traffic stop, police arrested a 50-year-old Pickerington woman at the intersection of Columbus and Center streets on a felony warrant from Wisconsin.
12:06 p.m. Believing oncoming traffic would stop for the yellow light, a 27-year-old Pickerington man turned left at the intersection of Hill and Old Diley roads and the Chevrolet Equinox he was driving struck a Nissan Rogue. He had a suspended license.
12:51 p.m. Threatening text messages were sent to a 14-year-old Pickerington girl.
1:36 p.m. A disabled vehicle was towed from the intersection of Blacklick-Eastern and Hill roads.
6:20 p.m. Following a traffic stop at the intersection of Hill and Old Diley roads, police arrested a 40-year-old Columbus man on an outstanding warrant from the Columbus Police Department.
Aug. 23
2:59 a.m. A Preston Trails resident reported that four to five armed suspects forced him inside his home and took several items. Police believe the incident was a targeted attack and said that the public is not in danger. The investigation is pending, and more information will be released at a later date.
