Aug. 10
5:57 a.m. A 17-year-old boy reportedly brought multiple items to the Sheetz register, paid for some of them, stuffed the paid and unpaid items into a bag and walked out. Police caught him and contacted his mother.
12:24 p.m. A blue Honda Fit hit a white Ford Bronco that was waiting to turn left onto Hill Road from Opportunity Way. The 68-year-old Honda driver allegedly got out of her vehicle and yelled at the Ford driver, returned to her vehicle and left the scene. Police tracked the Honda driver to her home, where she allegedly again blamed the accident on the other driver. Officers told her that multiple witnesses reported otherwise. She did not have a valid driver’s license or insurance.
9:01 p.m. Discount Drug Mart called police to report that a 13-year-old girl was violating a “No Trespass” order and causing a disturbance. When officers arrived, they allegedly found the girl in the back of the store fighting with her parents, who were trying to pull her toward the exit. Several items had been tossed from the shelves, including approximately $300 worth of wine bottles that had been shattered. Police escorted the girl outside while her parents retrieved her shoes. She had walked to the store from her home.

7:51 a.m. Someone broke into multiple vehicles at the Turnberry Apartments.
Aug. 12
3:19 a.m. Officers issued a “No Trespass” order to a 34-year-old Lorain man who had allegedly caused a scene at Circle K after coming up short on cash to pay for his coffee and cigarettes. Earlier in the evening, witnesses reported seeing the same man staggering along the railroad tracks on Hill Road. He told officers that he had been traveling with the carnival that was currently at Seton Parish.
7:36 a.m. A resident turned in a loaded .22-caliber Sig Sauer handgun that she found in the tree line behind her home in the Reserve at Pickerington Ponds.
12:47 p.m. After State of the Art Smiles dropped him as a patient for acting belligerently toward staff, a 51-year-old man allegedly threatened to harm his former dentist and “shred his license.”
2:27 p.m. While Cosmo Prof staff were occupied with customers, a man known to regularly steal from other central Ohio locations entered the store and walked behind the counter. He allegedly began loading his arms with electric clippers, saying “Thank you” each time he took another one. He drove away in a black Toyota sedan with a loose license plate.
4:47 p.m. Finnegan’s Wake called police to remove a 13-year-old girl who had entered the bar and made her way to the liquor cabinet. She had walked there from home.
7:20 p.m. An unknown woman stole approximately $200 worth of merchandise from DSW – Designer Shoe Warehouse.
Aug. 13
12:37 a.m. A 47-year-old Columbus man was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop on Hill Road near Old Diley.
10:22 a.m. Police cited a 22-year-old Columbus man for driving without a license following a traffic stop at Refugee Road and Fullers Way.
2:45 p.m. A Pickerington Village woman called police because her son was refusing to spend a week at his father’s home in Grove City. Officers arrested the 53-year-old father after dispatchers advised that he had multiple warrants out of Columbus.
Aug. 14
1:17 a.m. Police in Arkansas contacted Pickerington Police for help locating a 15-year-old runaway. Officers found the girl at the Kroger on Hill Road.
5:56 p.m. Medics transferred a 31-year-old Columbus man to a local hospital for a suspected overdose after officers found him passed out behind the wheel at a Hill Road traffic light.
Aug. 15
9:54 a.m. Following a traffic stop on Tussing Road near Winderly Lane, police cited a 27-year-old Dublin man for driving under a suspended license and not displaying a license plate.
10:01 a.m. Someone stole a wallet from an unlocked vehicle in Longview Highlands.
2:28 p.m. Police pulled over a 26-year-old Canal Winchester man for running the red light at Hill and Refugee roads. He was also cited for driving unaccompanied with only a permit.
2:42 p.m. A 39-year-old Columbus man was cited for driving on a permit following an accident at the intersection of Tussing and Hill roads.
Aug. 16
10:50 a.m. A man told police he received an email from his child’s teacher saying another teacher had recently died and the school was holding an estate sale. He purchased a Rolex watch for $2,000 through Zelle, sending the money to an account under the name “Wilfried Mwema.” When he did not receive a response from the school, he contacted the teacher and learned that her email had been hacked and he had been scammed.
11:28 a.m. Items were taken from a work truck parked in the Colony Park neighborhood.
4:19 p.m. A Sycamore Creek resident told police that someone had been placing nails of various sizes in her driveway for the past nine years. After she filed a police report in 2023, the incidents stopped, but they began reappearing daily on Aug. 13.
