On the sunny morning of Aug. 5, Pickerington High School North hosted the annual Lady Panther Invitational at the Links at Groveport.

The par 72 course, situated along Walnut Creek, utilizes the stream and other water features to challenge competitors.

Out of the 17 teams that entered the full competition, it was the Olentangy Orange High School Pioneers who claimed victory with a score of 321 – one stroke fewer than the 2nd place Columbus Academy Vikings.

Individual winners were New Albany High School’s Brooke Baker and Columbus Academy’s Claire Zeigler who tied with a score of 74, staying one ahead of Orange’s Amelia Ricker.

The Pickerington Central Tigers team — comprised of Senior Stella Russell, Junior Courtney Foxworth, Sophomore Adelita Bisel, as well as two Freshmen Maycee Oakley and Charlotte Burgess — finished in 12th place, a score of 390 putting them just behind the Centerville High School Elks. A trio of triple bogeys by Russell brought her score to 94 — placing her in a 4-way tie for 47th — while Bisel’s eagle on hole 4 was counterbalanced by quadruple bogeys on holes 11 and 16 for a score of 109.

The Tigers’ freshman duo rounded out the score, with Oakley’s team-best 89 and Burgess’ 98 being added over Foxworth’s 111.

The hosting Panthers team (Seniors Sage Shriver and Nina Meyer, as well as Juniors Madison Turner, Izzy Geiger, and Harper Nelson) placed 14th. Shriver led the way with an 82, which placed her in a tie for 15th place. The rest of the team shot above 100.
