COLUMBUS – Over the week of August 17-22, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, along with local and state safety partners, focused on preventing reckless driving and reducing the number of fatal crashes in select areas of Interstate 270 with the highest crash rates.

The week-long enforcement included safety partners from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Dublin Police Department, Gahanna Police Department, Hilliard Police Department, Columbus Division of Police and Ohio Department of Transportation.

During the enforcement, the Patrol issued 566 speed citations, 21 of which were over 100 miles-per-hour. Collectively, partnering agencies cited 90 drivers for safety belt violations, issued 103 distracted driving citations and arrested 12 drivers for impaired driving.

If you see reckless or impaired driving, please call #677 to be connected to your nearest Patrol post.
