Are you someone who has a lot of important documents to get rid of but haven’t had the time? Do you fear that sending your important documents to a regular recycling center could result in your identity being stolen? Well, fear no more. A Community Shred Day is coming to Pickerington on Sept. 26.
For those unfamiliar, people can bring sensitive papers and for a small fee and the documents are securely shredded.
The upcoming Pickerington Community Shred Day is hosted by Bottoms Up Diaper Bank at Peace United Methodist Church in Pickerington. It is sponsored by Peace Church, Smile Doctors and MMA Insurance. The event runs from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $5 per container, and all proceeds will support Bottoms Up in its efforts to provide supplies to struggling mothers.
“Diaper need is the inability to provide enough diapers for your baby to keep them clean, dry and healthy,” said Bottoms Up co-founder and president Jo Welsh. “Bottoms Up was founded to help with diaper need and distributes diapers to moms in need throughout central Ohio.”
Bottoms Up aims to raise $5,000. Payments will be accepted through Zelle, Venmo, cash and check, although cash and check are preferred.
Bottoms Up will also accept nonperishable food to be donated to the Pickerington Food Pantry. Gently used coats, hats, gloves and mittens will also be collected, cleaned and distributed to locl families in need.
“The Community Shred Day is a great example of collaboration among businesses supporting and promoting our mission at Bottoms Up Diaper Bank,” said Welsh.
The event is not the only opportunity to support Bottoms Up. The organization accepts donations year-round, including cash and diapers. Donors can even contribute diaper packages that have already been opened.
