Pickerington Local Schools Issues Statement on Levy Outcome

November 5, 2026
From Pickerington Local School District

We are devastated by the levy outcome and recognize the difficult circumstances facing our students, staff, and community. We are sorry that this effort was unsuccessful and understand the concerns and uncertainty many of us may be feeling.

Student opportunity and growth remain our highest priority. We have worked to protect classroom instruction and preserve the academic opportunities that make Pickerington Local Schools a destination for families. We are proud of the educational experiences we provide and remain committed to maintaining that focus.

In the days ahead, the District will carefully work through the logistical considerations of the reduction plan already established and evaluate the financial implications of the levy outcome. This will require difficult decisions as we determine the path forward and what those decisions mean for our schools, students, and staff.

While we are disappointed by this outcome, we will continue moving forward with the same dedication to our students, our staff and our community. We remain focused on our academic mission, and providing a high-quality education and meaningful opportunities for every student will continue to guide our work.

Board President Cathy Olshefski shared:

“This is a difficult moment for Pickerington Local Schools, and we recognize the significant impact this outcome will have on our schools, students, staff, and community. As a Board, we have a responsibility to face the challenges ahead with honesty, careful consideration and a clear understanding of the decisions before us. We will take that responsibility seriously as we work through the financial realities, evaluate our options and determine the best path forward for our District. Our focus must remain on providing the best possible educational opportunities for our students while being responsible stewards of the resources entrusted to us.”

Thank you to everyone who participated in the process and continues to care deeply about the future of Pickerington Local Schools.
