Ohio Goes to the Movies: Police Academy & Shawshank Redemption

May 20 @ 7:00 pm - 11:30 pm
$11

Ohio Goes to the Movies™ (OGTTM) is a statewide celebration of movies showcasing Ohioans: actors, directors, writers, composers, locations, and topics, shown in cities and towns across the state.

Skyview Drive-In’s special presentation of Police Academy (1984) and The Shawshank Redemption (1994) taps into these connections in different ways.

Police Academy – Eugene Tackleberry is played by David Graf (1950-2001), who holds 105 acting credits according to IMDb. Born and raised in Fairfield County, he graduated Lancaster High School in 1968, graduated Otterbein University in 1972, and spent 3 years at the Ohio State University before moving to New York.

The Shawshank Redemption – Filmed around the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, this adaptation of Stephen King’s eponymous story (rated #1 on IMDb’s Top 250 Movies of All Time) utilizes the historic prison to great effect. Visitors to the museum can stand where Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) explained The Count of Monte Cristo, and the office of Warden Norton (Bob Gunton).

This midweek double-feature includes 2 R-Rated Movies, and parents should therefore not bring their young children to attend. Audiences should also note this is a Drive-In Theatrewhere you park is where you sit.

Skyview Drive-In Outside Food Policy:

Outside food and beverage requires a permit and can be purchased online or at the box office.  Please consider supporting our snack bar, instead of bringing in outside food & beverage!  Remember theaters survive off of the concession sales, not the ticket sales.  We understand we may not have what you want, but we hope you will still purchase some popcorn and drinks from us!
