Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Most kids would answer this question excitedly (and loudly); “SpongeBob Squarepants!”
This beloved icon is not just limited to cartoons, though. SpongeBob and all the other residents of Bikini Bottom have their own musical! Granted, with this new form of media, comes new threats for SpongeBob and his friends.
In the SpongeBob Musical, the gang faces the total annihilation of Bikini Bottom! Chaos blankets the town like a plague – hopelessness sweeps through even faster. Yet, one hero, unexpected by all, uses the power of optimism to save the world!
If this sounds like the show for you, then no need to fret! Victoria Players Children’s Theater is presenting The SpongeBob Musical this weekend at Liberty Union High School,500 Washington Street in Baltimore.
“Come and see SpongeBob for lots of fun and laughs,” said Izzy Batter, the actor playing Patrick Star.

Show times are July 22 at 7pm, July 23 at 2 pm and 7 pm, July 24 at 2 pm. Tickets start at $15.00 per person and may be purchased online or at the door. The door opens half an hour before each performance.
This show is directed by Mary Dupler with choreography by ML Dance Academy in Pickerington, Jill Henwood of Liberty Union Musical Theater, and music direction by Caleb Stout of Millersport High School.
Alaina Smith who plays Squidward Q. said that “SpongeBob the Musical is awesome because every number has its own special element that makes it exciting for the actors and keeps the audience entertained!
The 29 cast members, who range in ages from five to 118, come from all over Fairfield, Perry, Licking and Franklin counties.
“The production is very similar to the Broadway production of the musical,” Henwood said. “it is not a junior version and includes fabulous songs from Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady A, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants, and T.I.”
Heidi Chabot who plays Sandy Cheeks said that everyone should “come see the show because it is a very cute musical and there was a lot of hard work put into it.”
SpongeBob Squarepants actor Nick Henwood said that “the thing I love most about this musical is going to practice each day to learn the beautiful music, make new friends, and enjoy a good laugh whilst re-reading the script.”
