Police/Sheriff’s Reports May 8-14, 2022

May 8

12:30 am: There was a report of a person with a gun at the Comfort Inn.  No further details have been released.

2:00 pm: A woman reported that her purse and cell phone were stolen from her car while she was picking up an order from Jay’s Crab Boil.

May 9

2:15 pm: Police responded to a fight at Pickerington Central.

May 10

1:00 pm: Volunteers of America gave the police a gun that was found in the donations.

8:45 pm: Kids allegedly egged a vehicle on Autumn Ridge Circle.

 

 

May 11

8:30 pm: A Columbus woman allegedly stole $1,690.32 worth of clothing from Kohls. She was with a man and her young daughter. When the police questioned her, she gave them her mother’s driver’s license instead of her own.  There was an arrest warrant for the daughter from a previous alleged Kohl’s robbery.

May 12

11:30 am: A 32-year-old Pickerington man was trespassing along the train trestle in the area known as “Kansas”. He said he remembered going there as a kid and did not know it was trespassing.

6:30 pm: Four young adults (age 18 to 21) were found trespassing along the train trestle and inside the nature preserve in the area known as “Kansas”.

10:30 pm: A group stole a Kia from the Roosters parking lot and a Hyundai from the parking lot of Rule 3. In both cases there was glass on the ground where the vehicles had been parked. Columbus police recovered the Kia the next day and the Hyundai on May 16. A video from an apartment complex showed the group dropping off the Kia then climbing into the Hyundai.

May 13

8:45 am: Enterprise-Rent-A-Car reported that someone tampered with the steering column and ignition of a Hyundai in a possible attempt to steal the vehicle.

7:00 am: Someone vandalized the Memorial Garden (Cemetery) at Epiphany Lutheran Church. Decorative glass had been taken from the entrance and smashed near the pond.  Stones along the pond’s perimeter as well as stones supporting the fountain were tossed into the water.

8:00 pm: Police responded to a report that a truck’s passenger window had been shattered in the parking lot of Cracker Barrel.  The officer noted what looked to be pry marks on the “B pillar”. 

A four-door silver sedan was seen pulling along side the truck for a few seconds before driving away.  A couple in a similar sedan were suspects in a vehicle break-in that occurred at Longhorn Steakhouse moments earlier.  In that case, the back window of an SUV was busted and nearly $7,000 of items (mostly clothing) were reported stolen.

May 13

8:30 pm: Someone started a small fire in a sink of the women’s bathroom at Victory Park.

  • 700 block of W. Market St., Village of Baltimore, disorderly conduct, 29 yr. old female, arrested for interfering with a custody agreement, failure to comply with orders of a Police Officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, transported to the Fairfield County Jail.
