Pickerington Community Theatre (PCT) will present The Foreigner by Larry Shue the weekends of March 17-19 and 24-26 at the Wigwam Event Center.

The play is set in a fishing lodge in rural Georgia, where two Englishmen, Froggy and his depressed friend, Charlie, arrive as guests. Froggy tells the other guests that Charlie is a foreigner who does not speak English, hoping to spare him from unwanted conversations.

This leads to a series of misunderstandings and revelations, as the other guests reveal their secrets to Charlie, thinking he does not understand. Charlie soon finds himself involved in a plot to stop a racist preacher and his followers from taking over the lodge.

“This production is a very entertaining comedy about a shy man from England who finds his true personality in the midst of learning other’s secrets and controversy,” director Coreen Janetzke said. “I really like this show because it covers many different topics – finding one’s own gifts and talents, relationships with others are what we should cherish most, different ways of communication, don’t judge a book by its cover and good can overcome vicious evil.”

Shows are Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. with 2 p.m. matinees on Sundays. Ticket prices are $19.00 for adults, $17.00 for seniors ages 55 and older and $17.00 for children ages 12 and younger. Tickets are available on the PCT website.

“This performance is a good night out for audiences who want to see good overcome evil and who enjoy quick wit and slapstick humor,” Janetzke said.

Upcoming shows for PCT include Disney’s Beauty and the Beast July 14-23, School of Rock October 6-15 and Every Christmas Story Ever Told on December 1-10.
