Kid COVID Vaccines & Adult Boosters

To help parents keep their kids healthy and in school, the Fairfield County Health Department (FCHD) will be hosting an after-hours pediatric Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine clinic on December 13th for ages 5-11. This event will be held from 3PM-6PM at the Health Department office located at1550 Sheridan Dr. Suite 100 Lancaster. This clinic is in addition to the regular daytime COVID-19 and childhood vaccination clinics available. To schedule a pediatric vaccine, the department asks parents to please call 740-652-2800 to get on the schedule, as walk-ins will not be accepted. The child’s registration forms can be completed ahead of time by going to fairfieldhealth.org.

The Health Department will also be hosting a drive-through COVID-19 booster clinic for adults 18 and over at the Violet Township Building located at 490 N Center St, Pickerington, OH on December 14th from 9AM-Noon. No appointment is necessary; however, they ask that everyone bring their COVID-19 vaccination card. The registration form can be found at fairfieldhealth.org.

COVID-19 vaccine boosters are now available for fully vaccinated adults 18 and older following action by the CDC director. Those who originally received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are eligible for a single booster dose two months following their original dose; those who received Moderna or Pfizer will be eligible six months after receiving their second dose, which completed the original vaccine series. Fully vaccinated adults can choose any of the three authorized COVID-19 vaccines for their booster dose. The Fairfield County Health Department continues providing all three adult COVID-19 vaccines: Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson. Fairfield County’s COVID-19 case numbers increased by 1% the last week in November. Over the past seven days we have had 393 new COVID-19 cases reported, for a rate of 249.41 cases per week per 100,000 population (High Transmission).

16 new hospitalizations were reported in the past week, and four additional COVID-19 related deaths were reported for the month of October for a total of 34 for the month October. There were five additional COVID-19 related deaths reported for November for a total of seven for the month of November.

There were 1225 new first dose vaccinations given last week, with 55.58% of Fairfield County residents having received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. 15,819 booster doses have been administered. The Fairfield County Health Department has begun vaccinating children ages 5 through 11 with the pediatric COVID-19 vaccine. We also continue to offer first and second dose vaccinations for anyone 12 and over, and COVID-19 booster doses for those eligible. We are also offering Flu shots at our clinic. Nationwide Children’s Hospital is also offering the vaccine free for ages 5-11. Due to the high demand, the appointments fill up quickly but additional appointments are regularly added. To make an appointment, please click on the link here.

Pediatric Associates in Pickerington and Canal Winchester does not yet have the vaccine. However, if you contact your child’s pediatrician, the doctor will add your child to a list to receive the shots once they become available.
