SUMMARY:Homegrown National Park
DESCRIPTION:Learn about the Homegrown National Park movement and actionable steps you can take in your own yard and home. \nThe Homegrown National Park movement was born from the realization that our actions\, even on a small scale\, can collectively make a monumental difference in preserving biodiversity and combating environmental degradation. The premise is simple yet profound: by transforming our yards\, balconies\, and community spaces into wildlife-friendly habitats\, we can create interconnected corridors that provide refuge for native plants and animals. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this program we will discuss what action steps are being suggested to get your home on the Homegrown National Park map. \nOne of those action steps is forgoing the use of chemicals to control the mosquito population by taking the Mosquito Dunk Bucket Challenge.  Five lucky attendees will receive a free mosquito dunk bucket set-up! \nAlthough this presentation is geared towards adults\, the entire family is welcome. \nRegistration is requested but not required. \n  \n\n\n\n\nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Threads (Opens in new window)\n Threads\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n Like this:Like Loading…

SUMMARY:The Ergonomics of Gardening: A Physical Therapist’s Guide to Cultivating your Health
DESCRIPTION:This spring\, join Keller Market House for a workshop led by a physical therapist who approaches gardening as a practical framework for personal and communal health! In this one-hour session\, you’ll explore the basics of gardening ergonomics: how to move and think in ways that reduce strain\, prevent injury\, and support long-term physical function. They’ll address common aches and injuries that arise from time spent in the garden this time of year and offer clear strategies for both prevention and recovery. Beyond body mechanics\, you’ll also consider how gardening habits influence other aspects of health\, including physical activity\, nutrition\, emotional well-being\, and a sense of connection to place and community. Whether you’re new to gardening or have years of experience\, this class offers useful guidance for making your time in the garden more enjoyable and sustainable.\n\nTickets cost $20 for the general public and $15 for Friends of the Market members. The registration deadline is Monday\, May 26th\, so hurry and register at this website! About the teacher: Sara Schiffbauer is a physical therapist and the owner and operator of Columbus Urban Farms\, a small urban farm with big plans to grow good food for good. They are committed to helping people better understand how their bodies function in order to support long-term health and well-being. In their physical therapy practice at OSU\, they focus on mindfulness\, injury prevention\, and empowering people to take an active role in their care. Their work on the farm reflects similar values—emphasizing thoughtful\, regenerative practices that contribute to both personal and community health.\n\nFor more information\, please visit Keller Market House’s Facebook page. \nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Threads (Opens in new window)\n Threads\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n Like this:Like Loading…
