SUMMARY:Cross Mound Park Hike
DESCRIPTION:This is the second of the 2025 Winter Hike Series. If you haven’t yet\, make the Fairfield County Park District’s winter hikes your annual winter tradition with friends and family\, including the four-legged ones. Walk the Cross Mound trail\, then warm up with hot drinks and refreshments. Trail conditions at Cross Mound Park will vary based on weather; be prepared with appropriate footwear to hike in muddy\, snowy\, or icy and slippery conditions. The hike is only about 1/2 mile long but is a bit more challenging than the other park locations. At the crest of the hill\, at Cross Mound\, take some time to learn about the mysterious mound\, then continue. Most hikers will finish in less than an hour. Those who wish to enjoy hot drinks and refreshments should start the trail between 10:00 a.m. and noon. Refreshments will be served from 10:30 until 12:30 p.m. Begin the hike at the WPA pedestrian bridge. Portable water is not available at this location. DESCRIPTION:Visit the Fairfield County District Library on the third floor on Saturday\, January 18th for Creating a Beloved Community – a Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration with Guest Speaker Quanita Roberson! \nDr. Martin Luther King Jr. believed that we could create and nurture a beloved community. A beloved community is defined as a community where we are all valued as individuals with differences and collectively as one human family. In this session\, we will honor the legacy of Dr. King and explore ways to continue promoting a beloved community in Fairfield County. We will celebrate advancements and discuss things we can do on a daily basis to emphasis that we ALL matter and we ALL belong. \nAbout the Speaker: \nSpeaker Quanita Roberson holds a master’s degree in organizations management and development\, with a concentration in Integral Theory\, from the Fielding Institute.  Quanita is an author\, storyteller\, life coach\, master teacher/facilitator\, an international public speaker\, and a devotee of spiritual and emotional intelligence.  Over the past 20 years\, Quanita has provided a plethora of workshops and retreats covering a wide scope of fields including leadership development and diversity\, equity\, and inclusion.
