This wonderful evening presented by Stew Electric is a fundraiser for Wagnalls with silent and live auctions supporting the foundation\, our restoration projects and a special auction item for the theater. \nThe Board will recognize Teri Gilmore and Kelly Thacker of RedONE Gilmore Group who are champions in our community supporting education\, community\, and the arts. We will be entertained by several live music performances and several bars throughout the Memorial. The party extends from the library through to the new Lithopolis Community Arts Center at Wagnalls and finishes in the auditorium for the live auction which includes several vacations. SUMMARY:America 250: The Big Roadshow
DESCRIPTION:An America 250 event that explores how transportation helped shape Pickerington\, and the nation\, focusing on key milestones including Zane’s Trace\, the Ohio & Erie Canal\, the railroad\, and Interstate 70. \nFREE\, family-friendly and open to the public. Food will be available for purchase.\nExhibits at The Big Roadshow will bring history to life. The centerpiece of the show is a large S-scale model train display modeled after the Toledo & Ohio Railroad route\, along which locomotives still travel through Pickerington today. \nAdditional highlights include an early motorcycle on loan from the American Motorcycle Association Hall of Fame and Museum. Antique vehicles on displayed in the parking lot\, weather permitting. \nSixth-grade students from Harmon Middle School will present the story of Zane’s Trace\, an ambitious 230-mile frontier road stretching from Wheeling\, Virginia (now West Virginia)\, through southeastern Ohio to present-day Maysville\, Kentucky. \nThe Diehl family of Master Builders has created a large LEGO display celebrating our transportation history. \nThe Pickerington Public Library will offer a children’s craft and the Pickerington Early Learning Center students will display their art in the “Big Roadshow Coloring Corner” for kids. \n  \n\nTransportation-related wood carvings from the Olivedale Wood Carving Club will be on exhibit. \nCanal boat captain re-enactor\, Jack Campbell\, will be on hand for a presentation\, as well as a pioneer surveyor\, portrayed by Dale Ferbrache. Dates and time will be announced. \nOFF SITE – Tours of the original Pickerington train depot at the Toledo & Ohio Central Train Station\, 50 N. The Pickerington Public Library is hosting an Essay Contest this summer! Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday\, we want to hear your thoughts\, opinions\, and experiences of living in the United States of America! \nWriters of all ages are invited to reflect\, tell their stories\, and submit an original essay for a chance to win their age category and be a featured guest at the Open Mic Night and Awards Ceremony in August. Prize baskets will be awarded to each winner in the three age groups\, and one overall grand prize winner will win a $200 gift card to the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts. \nAge Categories:\nKids: 0-11\nTeens: 12-17\nAdults: 18+ \nEssay Requirements: \n\nEssays should respond to the theme “What Does America Mean to You?”\n\nClick to view the 2026 Summer Essay Content Judging Rubric\n\n\nSubmissions must include at least one personal experience\, observation\, or example that helps explain the writer’s perspective.\nEssays must be typed.\n\nTeen & Adult essays should be 500–1\,000 words in length.\nKids’ essays do not have a word requirement.\n\n\nEssays must be original work created by the participants.
