SUMMARY:Ohio Goes to the Movies: Police Academy & Shawshank Redemption
DESCRIPTION:Ohio Goes to the Movies™ (OGTTM) is a statewide celebration of movies showcasing Ohioans: actors\, directors\, writers\, composers\, locations\, and topics\, shown in cities and towns across the state. \nSkyview Drive-In’s special presentation of Police Academy (1984) and The Shawshank Redemption (1994) taps into these connections in different ways. \nPolice Academy – Eugene Tackleberry is played by David Graf (1950-2001)\, who holds 105 acting credits according to IMDb. Born and raised in Fairfield County\, he graduated Lancaster High School in 1968\, graduated Otterbein University in 1972\, and spent 3 years at the Ohio State University before moving to New York. \nThe Shawshank Redemption – Filmed around the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield\, this adaptation of Stephen King’s eponymous story (rated #1 on IMDb’s Top 250 Movies of All Time) utilizes the historic prison to great effect. Visitors to the museum can stand where Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) explained The Count of Monte Cristo\, and the office of Warden Norton (Bob Gunton). \nThis midweek double-feature includes 2 R-Rated Movies\, and parents should therefore not bring their young children to attend. Audiences should also note this is a Drive-In Theatre\, where you park is where you sit. \nSkyview Drive-In Outside Food Policy: \n  \n\nOutside food and beverage requires a permit and can be purchased online or at the box office.  Please consider supporting our snack bar\, instead of bringing in outside food & beverage!  Remember theaters survive off of the concession sales\, not the ticket sales.  We understand we may not have what you want\, but we hope you will still purchase some popcorn and drinks from us! \nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Threads (Opens in new window)\n Threads\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n Like this:Like Loading…

SUMMARY:Ohio Goes To The Movies: National Lampoon's Vacation
DESCRIPTION:Ohio Goes to the Movies™ (OGTTM) is a statewide celebration of movies showcasing Ohioans: actors\, directors\, writers\, composers\, locations\, and topics\, shown in cities and towns across the state. \nPickerington Community Theatre & Violet Woods Event Center’s joint presentation of National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983) taps into a connection between Columbus and the property. \nIn the National Lampoon’s series\, Ellen Griswold is played by Beverly D’Angelo\, who was born in Columbus on November 15\, 1951 to a locally well-connected family\, with both parents as musicians\, maternal grandfather as the architect behind Ohio Stadium\, and her father a station manager at WBNS-TV (currently 10TV). \nThese connections meant that she’s well acquainted with the Wolfe family\, who owned a property in northern Violet Township they called “The Wigwam”. This 63-acre property\, with a pool\, theatre\, and vast ballroom\, was used to entertain celebrities and politicians for nearly 90 years\, before it was closed and sold to Violet Township in 2018. The theatre has become the home of Pickerington Community Theatre\, and the property was renamed to “The Event Center at Violet Woods” in the last couple of years. \nThe featured presentation is rated R\, and therefore not suitable to all audiences. \nAlthough the showing is free\, seating is limited. Reserve your tickets HERE. \n  \n\nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Threads (Opens in new window)\n Threads\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n Like this:Like Loading…
