SUMMARY:"The Librarians" Movie Screening
DESCRIPTION:From Academy Award nominee and Peabody winner KA Snyder Films. As book banning sweeps across the U.S.\, brave librarians emerge as first responders in the fight for our First Amendment Rights. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you love libraries\, this documentary is essential viewing. It reveals the real-world challenges librarians face\, celebrates their commitment to intellectual freedom\, and shows why protecting open access to information matters now more than ever. \nLibrarians emerge as first responders in the fight for democracy and our First Amendment Rights. As they well know\, controlling the flow of ideas means control over communities. In Texas\, the Krause List targets 850 books focused on race and LGBTQIA+ stories – triggering sweeping book bans across the U.S. at an unprecedented rate. As tensions escalate\, librarians connect the dots from heated school and library board meetings nationwide to lay bare the underpinnings of extremism fueling the censorship efforts. Despite facing harassment\, threats\, and laws aimed at criminalizing their work – the librarians’ rallying cry for freedom to read is a chilling cautionary tale. \n\n\n\nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Threads (Opens in new window)\n Threads\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n Like this:Like Loading…
