This Earth Day, April 22, Pickerington community members are coming together to protect our little corner of Fairfield County while enjoying food, entertainment, and free stuff in Pickerington Village.
The clean-up, organized by Pickerington Online, will begin at 10 am and end at 3 pm at Combustion Brewery & Taproom. Volunteers can sign up for one-hour shifts via Sign Up Genius.
Volunteers 15 and older can choose to help plant 1,200 trees at the new Hague Nature Preserve off Hill Road. Older teens and adults are also needed to remove invasive plant species from near the Pickerington Library’s main branch on Opportunity Way. However, volunteers of all ages are welcome to help us pick up litter around the schools, parks and Pickerington Village.

Event sponsor, JDog Junk Removal & Hauling, will place trash receptacles near the cleanup locations, then haul it away at the end of the day. Green Columbus will provide trash grabbers.
Lancaster-Fairfield Public Transit will provide a shuttle service from Combustion to the work sites.
Volunteers are encouraged to wear long sleeves and to bring gloves.
Each volunteer will receive a drink token courtesy of JDog. JDog will also be providing free cotton candy and popcorn.

The first 100 people to visit Combustion will receive a free pint glass. Saturday will also be the release of the new draft, “The Great Outdoors”. Combustion will also be partnering with Seven Acre Baker for Garden Harvest Beer and Bread Pairing while the bread lasts.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tito’s Asian Kitchen will be dishing out Asian favorites and Schmidt’s Sausage Truck will be serving up brats and cream puffs from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Register to make a personalized plant box from AR Workshop from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. into which you can place flowers that you purchased from Strader’s Garden Centers’ pop-up shop which will run from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
At 7 p.m. Sparky Hartfield will perform live covers of classic rock, reggae, pop and soul from the 1960s through the nineties.
Next door at Ruby Joy Boutique, Erin and Emily from Picktown Rocks, will supply everything you need to create a masterpiece on stone. Afterwards stop by Humble Crate Artisan Marketplace to find more plants for sale.
The Saturday cleanup will be the second such Earth Day event this week. The city of Pickerington elected officials will join city staff and high school volunteers on Friday morning to clean up other areas of the community. No additional volunteers are needed for the city-run event.
